Tillamook ice cream jewel7/24/2023 One side shows the making of cheese while the other shows the packaging. I was captivated by the factory floor watching. The Creamery offers a free look at a small museum and views of the working factory floors. What a wonder of the snacking world this place is. ![]() Definitely worth the stop to visit and have some tasty goodness. After words we stopped an got ice cream, everything is reasonably priced, just be prepared for the crowds, oh and their soda fountain is all real on the tap sodas and great choice of flavors from classic root beer, vanilla cream soda and many others. After we ate we did the self guided tour which was cool, like I said a lot different from when I was a kid, but pretty cool to see how milk is made into cheese. But still great place, we had lunch and if you love cheese then try their Mac n Cheese OMG, some of the best I have ever had, and the deep fried cheese curds are amazingly tasty, their grilled cheese is also delicious quick service and friendly staff. ![]() We were here on a Monday and it was crazy packed, plenty of parking (think they could pave the whole lot with as much money as they take in from the tourist. On our way to Portland from Lincoln City we decided to stop and take the kids to see how the process and make cheese, wow this place has changed since I was a kid and they used to take us here in field trips in elementary school. Would have appreciated knowing that ahead of time. The only negative thing I could possibly say was that the young server who took our order asked us what side we wanted with our grilled cheese and told us choices: we selected the tomato soup and then found an “up charge” of $3.00 to our bill when we looked at the receipt. Great layout of self tour of working factory and friendly staff. If I lived there, I would frequent often. The retail area had very reasonable prices and a wide selection of food and branded merchandise. We didn’t try the ice cream - we were too full from the shared savory dishes we tried. The tomato soup was also good with chunks of soft cheese mixed into the soup. The grilled cheese was well done with high quality cheese - not greasy and oily. The spicy Mac and cheese was shared and had meat and cheese with large noodles. We tried the spicy Mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwich, and tomato soup. Also offered is a restaurant where they serve food and ice cream. When traveling highway 101 we randomly stopped at this experience- this is a free attraction that allows you to tour a live factory and gives you free samples of cheese. We are sure there's an audience for this flavor, but when compared to other Tillamook ice creams, this one feels a bit more artificial than the others.Good experience, plenty of free parking, great food. Or, at the very least, include fresh raspberries rather than a "ripple" of a raspberry puree, as listed in its ingredients. ![]() Raspberry is commonly paired with chocolate for a nice balance of sweet and tart, though we cannot help but wonder if we are missing out on a potentially better combination of ingredients. In the case of Tillamook's variety, Cocoa Butter is the only trace of chocolate to be found in its ingredients, and it's pretty far down the list.Īdd in the fact that raspberries are not even technically berries, and this entire pint of ice cream feels like one giant lie. Just because it's made using cocoa butter, milk, and sugar, there's a lack of cacao nibs, so one cannot really classify white chocolate the same way as milk chocolate or dark chocolate. While we're at it, let's address the elephant in the room: White chocolate is not actually chocolate.
